And then this happened...

So Monday night around 9ish L and Ox were lying (or is it laying?) in bed, when L looked over and caught sight of this guy (see below) gliding across the front of her dresser.

Percy was not big around (about an inch in diameter) but was close to 4 feet long. This is just after the release and you'll notice his head toward the top middle of the picture next to a smashed soda can and his tail all the way past the bottom of the picture.

She let out a very dignified squeak and motioned to Ox. They tried to catch this poor freaked out creature, but alas it was smarter and/or faster than they were and after tearing their room apart chasing it, they lost it. In their bedroom. So they slept at Ox's folks house (they were out of town).

The next morning L forced her younger sister, Hilly, to come over and help catch the creature, if it was still there, which L doubted, and mostly to put the room back together. Hilly came and luckily within the first 5 minutes in the room they found Percy (obviously they named him/her) curled up in L's wedding dress in the closet. L was better prepared this time and grabbed Percy with BBQ tongs and put him in a pillowcase.

Once Ox heard the news he insisted the victors come show their spoils to all his friends at work and they did so. Then Percy was released back into the wild, far from their house.

The VIP of this team was definitely Peanut who kept insisting he get to see and/or help in all aspects of the chase, was constantly underfoot and refused to leave 'Grammie's House' once there because she has the best toys.

You are so brave, I can guarantee I would have done nothing of the sort. Carlin would not have been allowed to sleep, eat, or work until the snake was gone.
